Master Wanxing A Brief Introduction to the Venerable Master Wan Xing

The Venerable Master Wan Xing was born in June 1971 in Xiangyang City, Hubei Province of China. At the age of fifteen, Master Wan Xing converted to Buddhism, and three years later he was ordained as a monk in the Nanputuo Temple in Xiamen City, Fujian Province. In 1993, at the age of twenty-two, Master Wan Xing graduated from the Minnan Buddhist Institute. One year later, he started his first seclusion in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. This seclusion lasted for two years. During this period of time, Master Wan Xing cultivated the ability to:


Ye Bu Dao Dan: Sit at meditation through the night without lying down to sleep. 


He Zhu Jiang Fan: Contains the body's energy inside, without leakage. And it raises  the energy up from the front of the body to the back ,then upwards to the Crown Chakra. In a non-practitioner, the body's energy follows a linear course downwards, and leaks out through sexual or other daily activities. 

Wang Wo San Mei: Experience the state of Samadhi, as "One with the Universe". 

Master Wanxing

In 1995, when he was twenty-four, Master Wan Xing started his second seclusion in the Himalaya Mountains of Tibet, China. Owing to fate and tremendous good karma, he met the enlightened Master La Meng in Tibet and received the treasure Dharma transmission from him. Upon concluding the second seclusion, Master Wan Xing was able to completely disengage from his six senses. He saw the Light of Consciousness shining above him, like a full moon on a clear and peaceful night. He merged into One with the state of deep Samadhi, day and night: 

The ground beneath vanished, so did the sky above.
The ocean wave faded away, so did the smoke of the fire. 
What he hears and sees will no longer disturb his inner peace. 
The Mind is finally Still. 

Zenergy

At the age of twenty-seven, Master Wan Xing, for the third time, went into seclusion in the Cave of Hui-Neng (the Sixth Chan Patriarch) in the Donghua Mountain near Shaoguan City of Guangdong Province. During this final seclusion, Master Wan Xing spent three years repeatedly practicing what had been experienced in the prior seclusions so that his spiritual attainments became solidified and permanent. When that infinite and ultimate Awareness was realized, his body and mind instantly melted away. The Emptiness fell into pieces. All that had existed dissolved.“ I am flying. I am dancing. Yet I am still…”

Completing his third seclusion successfully, Master Wan Xing commenced the rebuilding of the thousand-year-old Donghua Chan Monastery on the same location where Hui-Neng, the Sixth Chan Patriarch, retreated. He led some of his disciples to work on the construction during the day. And, in the evenings, he meditated together with the group and lectured the Dharma teachings. Some of the lectures were selected and put together by his disciples. A book was published, The Light Of Consciousness. This book was highly regarded among monastic and lay practitioners as Guidance to an Enlightened Life and The Melody for Self-Realization. Later, three more books on the subject of Mind were published: Tame Your Mind, Properly Use Your Mind, and Detach From Your Mind. This book series speaks directly to the essence of the Truth using simple language so that the essential teachings and methods of practice will be easily understood and followed by all audiences. A short path to higher Self Realization was introduced in this series of books.

Master Wanxing founded the Donghua lineage tradition, which is practiced by both the Sangha and lay followers in the monastery. He leads by example and has been teaching the Dharma in ways that are most suitable to people of the modern age. To date, he has conducted over 10,000 lectures and published 13 books in multiple languages. The collection of the six books on the “five minds and one moon” are his most representative works, summarizing his thirty years of personal experiences in practicing the Dharma and rebuilding the monastery. he devotes himself to teaching practitioners the path to liberation. The path serves as the basis for a “people-oriented Buddhism,” which he calls “Donghua Chan.”
